Hi, I'm Rebecca!

A teacher, pianist, and all-around creator!
I help everyday people just like you learn to play piano through improvisation!
(All part of my master plan to spread joy around the world,
one piano at a time!)

What is Rebecca's Piano Keys all about?

I love teaching and playing piano!

I’m a university educated teacher with 10 years of classroom experience in Canadian schools.

I’m aRoyal Conservatory of Music qualified piano teacher with tons of happy students in my private studio.

And I’m passionate about using the piano to create your own music. (It’s truly a lot easier than you might think!)

But here's the thing… my piano studio is full!

And try as I might, I can't fit more students into my schedule. There just aren't enough hours in a day!

Which is how Rebecca’s Piano Keys was born!

I want to help people all over the world learn to unlock their love of piano so they can hop onto pianos in subway stations (and living rooms!) to share and enjoy the magic of piano music.

How Did I Get Here?

My Journey from Piano Has-Been to Improv Hotshot

so sad when you can't remember how to play anything you learned on the piano!

For a few years in my 20s, I was the girl who had to say, “I can’t remember how to play anything right now.”

I'd been in lessons for over 10 years as a kid.

I'd won countless awards for my annual performances in my community festival.

I'd played the organ at 2 churches every Sunday for 2 years (which meant I'd learned literally hundreds of hymns!).

And yet, when my friends and family asked me to play something…

I. Could. Not. Play. ANYTHING.

It was embarrassing.

And then, through a series of happy events, I discovered piano improvisation!

All of a sudden, I just was not that girl anymore. And I never would be again!

Now, I was the girl who saw a piano in a train station in Paris, started playing, and had people moving closer to listen and even press the “I like this!” feedback button.

I was the girl improvising on a piano in a tiny albergue in a tiny village in Spain, and smiling when a Belgian girl sat beside me and started improvising a duet.

I was the girl coming home from work and sitting at the piano to unwind with some casual free-styling!

It. Felt. GREAT.

And I want everyone to be able to experience that feeling! Including you!
