Hi, I'm Rebecca!

I've been playing piano since I was 6 years old, but it wasn't until I learned to create my own music that I truly fell in love with piano.

FAQ

  • Will the improvisation rhythm challenges in this book be too hard for me?
    This book is intended for beginners (although more experienced piano players will probably enjoy it too!). It uses only the most basic rhythms in 4/4 time, along with the C major scale and only 4 chords.

    The beauty of this book is that you can customize it to your level! You can use the C major pentascale instead of the full scale, to make the challenges easier. And if the chords are too much for you, you can omit them and simply practice reading the rhythms and improvising simple melodies.
  • What if I understand how chords work, but I'm not very good at playing them yet?
    I can't think of a more rewarding way to practice playing chords than to use them in creating your own music! And you can play these improvisation challenges as slow as you need to until you build more confidence!
  • Do I need to be able to read music in order to use this book?
    Only a little bit. This book is intended as a tool to help you learn how to read music. It is removes the pitches so you can practice reading note values without having to think about pitches at the same time.

    The only pitches you need to be able to recognize on the music staff are middle C and treble G. (Treble E also makes an appearance, but only once!)

    Which makes this book a fantastic stepping stool to help you start learning to read music without feeling overwhelmed!
  • Are all the challenges only 8 measures long?
    The first 6 challenges are only 8 measures (2 lines) long. However, you should feel free to turn any challenge you like into a longer piece of music by cycling through it repeatedly.

    The final challenge in the book is 16 measures (4 lines) long.
  • What is the file format of this ebook? Will it be compatible with my device?
    The ebook is a PDF file, which you can read on just about any device.
