Looking for some piano inspiration? Or just some quality piano covers of popular songs from 2020?
Sometimes we all need an inspirational reminder of why we practice piano. And quite often, a beautiful piano cover of a modern pop song can be just the thing we need to get us feeling inspired and motivated when we’re in a bit of a “piano slump.”
With that in mind, I set out to compile a list of beautiful piano covers of pop songs that came out in 2020.
And let me just say… this task proved much more difficult than I anticipated!
I went and checked out Billboard’s The 100 Best Songs of 2020: Staff List, thinking I would simply take the top 10 songs from their list and then go find piano covers of them. As it turns out, I only recognized 3 songs from the top 10.
What’s worse, I only recognized about 10 from the entire list of 100 songs!
Apparently, I spent most of 2020 under a rock. (Actually, I spent most of 2020 listening to podcasts and to classical music, but I digress…)
So in the end, I pulled some pieces I really enjoyed from Billboard’s list, added a couple others songs I like, and then I got to work hunting down some piano covers for you!
Now without any further ado, let’s check out these piano covers!
1. The Weeknd – Blinding Lights
**This guy sometimes posts blooper videos on his “other” channel, Fancesco Parrino Extras, and they are one of my favourite things on all of YouTube. They so perfectly capture the level of frustration we piano players feel when we make mistakes in the middle of our recordings! To get you started, here's his blooper reel for Smooth Criminal. It technically doesn't belong in this blog post, but it's a fun bonus video!

Final Thoughts
I also really enjoyed the song Be Like That by Kane Brown feat. Swae Lee & Khalid, but I couldn’t find a piano cover that I felt did the song justice. So if you have a performance video of this song, feel free to share it with me and if I like it, I might add it to this list!
